Q. What does a typical day or week look like?
A. As a Thrivent Financial representative, every day will present new and exciting opportunities for you to help others. Once contracted, you will:
- Contact and meet with clients.
- Gather sufficient information to identify opportunities to serve clients’ needs.
- Help clients achieve their financial goals through the Thrivent Financial Advisory Process.
- Establish new client relationships and continue to strengthen relationships with existing members.
- Maintain a consistent level of weekly appointments that generates sufficient production to meet goals.
- Maintain documentation for client files and business requirements.
- Be aware of and/or participate in fraternal activities.

Q. What is the pay structure for the financial representative career?
A. Financial representatives have the opportunity to drive their own income through:
- Base commissions: Base compensation is paid biweekly on business issued for risk products, annuities and mutual funds. Your sales will be measured in terms of production credits called Accumulation Base Commissions (ABCs). ABCs are the sum of the base commissions paid in the first three years for most products sold.
- Bonuses: Our bonus system is designed to reward Thrivent Financial representatives for their efforts while providing motivation to continuously build their practice. You will be eligible for five different bonus programs based on your performance.
Q. Are there any incentives in addition to compensation and bonuses?
A. We offer financial representatives several opportunities to be recognized for their achievements, celebrate their success and connect with others serving Thrivent Financial members across the nation including:
- Annual field conferences and leadership retreats held at exclusive resorts and hotels in exciting locations such as Hawaii, Orlando and Montreal. Thrivent Financial representatives may qualify for conference recognition at reduced qualification levels in their first three years.
- Recognition programs for production, years of service and achieving advanced designations.
Q. Is financial support available to help launch my career?
A. Yes. As a new financial representative, you may take advantage of the new FR financing program to help you get started in your career. The program is designed to provide you with a smooth transition to a commission-based income. Your local recruiter can provide more information about the pay structure and benefits package available to financial representatives.
Q. What type of benefits are offered and when am I eligible to receive them?

Q. Is the financial representative position a full-time position?
A. Yes. All financial representative positions (with the exception of the part-time assistant financial associate position) are full-time. Your local recruiter can tell you more about the opportunities and requirements of the position.
Q. What type of licenses does this position require?
A. Financial representative positions require a state Life & Health license, and the FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) Series 7 and Series 66, or Series 7, 65 and 63, along with other state-specific licenses, as needed.
Q. Does Thrivent Financial help candidates become licensed?
A. Yes. You’ll have the guidance, support and tools you need to help you become licensed. Your local recruiter can share detailed information with you about the support available.
Q. Does this position require financial experience? What if I don’t have a background in the financial services industry?
A. While past experience is helpful, it is not required for this position. In fact, many successful Thrivent Financial representatives have no prior experience in sales/financial services.
Q. Is training available for this position?
A. Yes. You’ll go through a comprehensive training program to help you get started in your career. Through this training, you’ll learn about the products and services you can offer. You’ll also gain a thorough understanding of the Thrivent Financial Advisory Process, which you will use to help clients achieve their financial goals.
Q. What type of products does Thrivent Financial offer?
A. Thrivent Financial and its affiliates offer a wide range of financial products and services to meet clients’ needs, including life and health insurance products, annuities and mutual funds. We offer products developed and managed by Thrivent Financial as well as quality products from other companies. In addition, our financial consultants and senior financial consultants have the opportunity to offer wrap accounts and fee-based financial programs through Thrivent Investment Management Inc., our wholly owned subsidiary broker/dealer and investment advisor. Thrivent Financial Bank, another wholly owned subsidiary of Thrivent Financial, offers a full line of banking and trust services to our clients.
Q. Does this career require me to be Lutheran?
